The Poor Sick Boy and the Happy Blue Folding Bike

Every year it seems like I must die from the plague. The cold brings it in and sweet chemistry sweeps it out. I really don’t enjoy coughing for 10 mins straight, or loosing half of my hearing and asking people to repeat themselves 34 times more than normal. It is slowly driving me…broke. Doctor bills are not cheap, medicines are ridiculous, and missing work is no way to make bread. I really just want to figure out what the fuck is going on with my lungs. I don’t smoke, I shouldn’t have these kinds of problems every mid-late January. I find it annoying, very fucking annoying.

I also have a bike to sell if anyone is interested. It is a Citizen folding bike. It will cost you $225 plus shipping. I am have only rode the bike once and it is in perfect condition. It comes with a bike lock (with 2 keys), a bell, a portable hand air pump for the tires, and bag to carry everything in. The bag itself has wheels!!! You can take this bike everywhere you go and it is really comfortable. I just no longer need it, in fact I should have never have bought it. So, need a bike buy mine and be the first kid on the block with a folding bike! Never have you bike stolen again!

Sick of It

I’m so sick of not having friends. At most I have 7. I have buddies in class, but I don’t know how to break the classroom relationship to make it into a friendship and hang out with these people. ARGG!!!

Highly Discouraged

Well fuck.

I waited for two whole long as hell weeks to get the news on Friday evening at 5:15pm just as I was about to leave.

“John, we’ve offered the job to someone else”

Fuck, what. I worked so hard. This can’t be real.

“You were the by far the favorite canididate”

What the fuck, why then are you giving my fucking job away, why is this slipping through my hands. The world is getting dark

“The canididate just had so many years of experience as a C# developer, we had to take him”

Shit, who is he? I think I’ll break his fucking eyeballs. See him develop in Visual Studio then!

“Just hang tight though John, we may have something opening up for you real soon”

Ya when this old fuck head who doesn’t have a real career and decides to steal my job takes the big full time programmer job that I’m ultimately after. Sure then you will offer me his old job. Fuck.

Quite a discouraging end to an otherwise good Friday and decent week. I was pretty fucking down for quite some time after work. I feel better now [after a strong Martini]. Perhaps they will create another programmer position very soon, after all their budget is “virtually unlimited”.

In the game of life some win, some loose, and some get bent over backwards to take it up the ass from the winners until finally someone lets them win. I think I might be in the last category.

Gettin My Swell On

This year I decided [like about 14 billion other people] to work out. My end goal was to loose the very small amount of tummy fat that I have and add muscle. I don’t want to be Mr Macho Man or anything, but some good muscle definition and body tone would be great.

My goal is to go to the gym for 1 hour twice a week and eventually ramp it up to 3 times per week. I want to spend 30 mins in cardio workouts and 30 mins in strength. I thought this was a good goal to set and figured that I would be able to meet this goal within 2-3 weeks.

To my suprise I went to the gym tonight [the SRSC] and did a cardio workout for 30 mins [running] and then spend 30 mins total on different strength machines. I worked out my back, then my arms, then my chest, and ended with my legs. I felt a little wobley coming out of the gym, and it really felt great. I was able to meet my goals the very first night! I also lifted more than I thought I could. This is a really great start as with being pretty skinny it was hard mentally to walk into the strength room and sit down on several different machines. I made myself sit in the front of the room also [no hidding this handsome face in the back]. Since I was able to meet my goals tonight it will be much easier for me to go back in on Wednesday and work out for the full hour again. My body will surely be more sore on Wednesday but I can make it though the soreness, the mental act of going is really the hardest thing.

All in all I feel great. I am an amazingly handsome face, charming personality, fantastically intellectual mind, and soon a great looking tone and muscular [though not overly so] body! Go me!

New Years Eve 2006: Chicago

So another year has come and gone, la da di, la da da.

I got to spend this New Years Eve in Chicago, my favorite closest big city. I woke up at 1:30am [having only gotten 1.5 hrs of sleep] on NYE to drive up to Indy and pick up the Miller. From there it was a scant 3.5 - 4 hr drive up to the windy city. Upon arrival we immediately got lost for Josh’s map quest directions [never use map quest kids, it stinks!], and ended up taking another hour to get to Josh’s sister Sara’s house. She was kind enough to wake up at 7am to give me a temp parking pass for her area and let us into the house to sleep, and boy were we tired. So I took to the couch and curled up for what I hoped to be a good 3-4 hrs sleep…NOT A CHANCE! For some reason I was not able to sleep at all on NYE, but to no avail we had a good time.

Upon awaiting the others to wake up [around 11] we hung out and got to know the other travel staying with Sara, Megan, and talked it up. Around noon-thirty Josh and I headed out to find some grub and walked around the neighborhood for a bit. Afterwards it was off to downtown with the girls on the L. They hoped off to go shopping and Josh and I stayed on a bit heading deeper into the big city. Upon exit of the train we took off and became as touristy as possible taking pictures of everything in sight, and sometimes of things not quite in sight. We ended up at Bennigans for a NYE drink and I had a fantastic Irish Eyes Martini, which upon drinking I immediately texted Michelle and told her of the news.

Upon the return to Sara’s house we greeted our fellow friends and make some drinks. After a couple rounds we headed off to a fabulous [possibly the best i've had] Mediteranian resteraunt on Broadway called Casbah’s [3831 N Broadway to be exact, somewhere near the crossing of Aldine and Broadway I think]. We preceded to have our meals, laughs, and some good conversation with the cooks and waiters. Then headed home to rest a bit before the big hour.
We celebrated the new year at a small party which proved to be a little boring for myself and Josh because the tiredness was kicking in heavily and we didn’t know anyone there. We hung around for a bit, drank our toast and headed back to Sara’s apartment for some sleep.

The next day the ladies were a little hung over and Megan headed home. Josh and I set a course for the Museum of Science and Industry for a very good tour of the U505 submarine. The MSI was fantastic with lots of great things to look at and marvel over, though there was quite a few too many exhibitions geared towards the kiddies. We had a great time and preceded to head home so that the Miller could work the next day. Of course we got lost heading back to 90/94 and ended up paying the damn bridge toll twice. Oh well, I got the miller home around 10:30 p.m., picked up Ethel [my dog] from my parents at 11:45 p.m. and  got back to the b-town very early the next morning.

So that sums everything up, a good relaxed time for ringing in 2007 and certainly some things to remember.
